The Bubba Effect

This weekend I had the opportunity to accidentally ‘bump into’ Fox News and hear Mr. Glenn Beck talking about the “Bubba Effect.”

For those of you who may not know, this is the tendency for some in our society to ‘take-to-the-hills and bury ammo and Bibles because THEY is a comin.’ Now the question you have to ask yourself is, who is they? United States Army (Ret) Command Sgt Major Tim Strong as well as an ex-CIA agent were guests of Mr. Beck. Mr. Strong spoke at length without being specific about the ‘Bubbas’ and indicated several known separatist groups as well some that most people are unaware of buried deep in our society. Again, they were not mentioned by name but having spent 20 + years as an AT specialist I am familiar with what he is talking about.

In my opinion, the show on it’s most transparent level attempted to address people’s fears about the unknown in these trying times. Along with the idea that big government has become to intrusive. However, due to the slick presentation and propaganda package that Fox News likes to use the actual message was closer to validating insurrection and homegrown terrorism.

I suggest that all of you take the time to scan news sources and listen with an unbiased and informed ear. Listen to what they are saying, pay attention to your next door neighbor or that guy down the street. I’m not saying that we need to spy on each other but what I am saying is that there are a lot of disgruntled (or better yet Gruntled) people out there and in their haste to do something/anything could in fact do our country great harm.

Respectfully

RJ Peeler

  1. Mr. Peeler . I know exactly what you say . And there are more than we would like here in the southwest, back in these mountains . I am an old Marine and as macho as anyone yet I do not subscribe to that kind of thinking. I also am an atheist and It seems most of the above are ignorant Christians; Of coarse I believe that is the only kind of Christians there are .

    Mr. Murrell,

Thank you sir for those comments and your service to our great nation. I too am a veteran and could not believe my ears when I heard what I heard.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I love to argue and debate as much as the next American but we cannot allow fear and ignorance to dictate what we do in our daily lives. We’ve come to far and lost too much blood for that type of behavior to once again take control of our country.

    Take care!

  3. BUBBA 1 says:

The bubba effect is a community networking “co-op” of people that believe in the founding documents, and believe something “will or may” happen to the country. and there being a need to help their neighborhood or community get through the hard times, however long it may be. It is the active militaries job to defend against all enemies foriegn and domestic, the Constitution of The United States. I am retired.

I believe you are missing the point if you are tying this to racial divisions. There are small segments of all races that proclaim racial superiority. The issues that were addressed on the show go much deeper then racial boundries.

Given we are all veterans we all share one common pledge. That is to defend and protect the constitution.

Being a veteran, even from the Viet Nam time frame I learned we are equal in arms and in the military community. It was not until leaving the service did I begin getting bombarded by politicians with messages of how I was a victim of society. That message was the exact opposite of what my parents told me. They told me I could be anything I wanted.

Today all I see is the victimization of my race by modern day carpetbaggers. I am proud of my race and do not need politicians telling me I cannot achieve on my own because I am a victim.

What I see discussed on that show is the fact that America, regardless of party, or race is the country wants change from the dirt and lies we have been spoonfed by the ruling class.

We elected Obama on the hopes he would be that change. What do we have?

A man that plays by the same rules, surrounded by the same people, telling us the same things.

Now more laws are being passed taking more freedoms away and we are supposed to be happy that we are loosing rights we just got barely 50 years ago?

Truthfully, at what point do people say ok here we go again. Those sneaky bastards are going to do it again and my grandkids are going to be indebted to the damn ruling class.

Neither you or I know what affect the socialization of America Obama is leading us towards will be. Neither of us knows if he will be succesful in stopping the downslide of the economy with his course.

If in fact his course proves disastourous to America, and he has to implement laws that are directly in opposition to the constitution we will see an even unhappier America.

This is a univeral struggle. The rights and freedoms we earned can not be taken again.

  5. R. Peeler says:

This is what I posted earlier to an individual who mentioned the same thing:

I am also retired military and understand exactly what the Constitution entails.

My concern is for those that would seek to pervert our system of justice and controls through the fanatical pursuit of personal ideology that is based on hatred and ignorance.

I stand by my opinion as well as the observations I made in reference to the statements made by Mr. Glenn Beck as well as others I may not have mentioned in my article.

I am not as concerned about racial issues as much as I am about alleged news outlets that are actively preaching insurrection and propaganda. Again, I’m not singling out any one political side as I have no tolerance for either when it comes to that type of slanderous and dangerous activity.

It is time for the American people to understand that solutions to our problems cannot be found by listening to anyone that has an agenda…hidden or otherwise, but through the calm and rational discussion of what’s being done to us in an effort to sell news, fear, and separatism. That can only occur through awakening each and every one of us to the knowledge that we’re being sold a bill of goods.

Yes, I’ve heard all about Obama’s supposed march toward socialism even though people gladly accept Social Security without a second thought…but again it will be impossible for him to do half (if any) of the things he’s being accused of in the four years guaranteed him by the voters. This is just another classic example of an orchestrated verbal attack to get us to turn our attention away from what’s truly important…our country.

Right now, you and I are discussing this, yet I know of two towns that have dried up and died because of the banking industry. I travel frequently so I see the new homeless –well heeled people who through the pursuit of the American dream lost everything and are now trying to provide for their families. I’m also aware of the job fairs that usually attract hundreds but have now attracted thousands across the country who are trying to put food on the table and a roof over their heads.

I live on the border and have for several generations, so I have seen and experienced the effects of lax border enforcement, drugs, and the terror that the Mexican government has allowed to be unleashed on its citizens and the American public.

Where is the outrage, where is the determined indignation by a nation of people that will not take it anymore? Where is the focused and unbiased news coverage? It does not exist because it is not and was not politically expedient to discuss such things. We’re more concerned about socialism, Obama’s birthplace, and what’s in the spending bill yet millions of our people…our American people are being abused.

With all due respect sir allow me to loosely quote Charles M. Smith:

“Guard protect and cherish your land for there is no afterlife for a place that started out as Heaven.”

  6. Terry Baldwin says:

The very issues you raise in your final paragraphs is the exact cause of fear in the television program you chastise.

Why is the news media no longer the peoples media, but the governments’ media. Why are those we elect choosing not to listen to our wishes?
Why is it, you and I as citizens not being informed by honest reporting both the local and national level?

Why is it every channel carries the same exact story written the same way with the difference being the tone of delivery by the reader?

I am not condoning a call to arms by the citizenry to do what the government refuses to do. But on the other hand, I am not afraid of being aware that there are those who see the same wrongs you see in a different light.

If you wish truth I will give you one truth. Half the country is in fear. All they hear is the president talking about what he is going to give people. They do not hear what he is going to do to stop the bleeding.

He tells the people with 401ks in the market he does not care about the market because it is like a poll to him. That about blew me out of my seat.
I got money in the game.

I have my children moving back in my house because they cant get work.
He is up in the white house feeding steaks to the good old boys every week
while people on food stamps and unemployment are barely surviving. Thats not telling me he cares about people. Thats saying “I got mine”.

Whenever there are two men in a room, there will always be an issue that divides them.

  7. RJPeeler says:

    Mr. Baldwin,

I agree with everything you say up to a point. No one should or can live in a constant state of fear, and I refuse to live my life that way. I believe that the tone of the broadcasting stations you spoke of is only used in an effort to shock and paralyze, instead of galvanizing or bringing people together for a common goal. When I see that, the only thing that comes to mind is an organized propaganda effort which to me is a ploy to direct our energies away from what is truly important.

That directed energy is only useful to an agenda that wishes to create discontent among the masses who choose not to understand the game being played. As I said before, you and I are communicating in a manner that would make some believe there is disagreement but we are essentially saying the same thing. Chalk one up for the propaganda agenda.

Yes, this country has problems, we always have. What I want is for everyone to wake up and recognize that within all of our varied views and opinons we agree on one thing. And that is, if the system ain’t workin’ we will continue to throw politicians out of office until they get it right. Furthermore leave all the back and forth bickering to the school age crowd and listen to the people because we’re telling Washington that we’ve had enough. But that won’t happen because as I said before we’re focused on issues that I believe are continually created to distract us from the real problems we should be chastising our leaders about.

Good day sir, I wish you and yours only the best!

I’m writing this in response to those who may view my posts as an attempt to abridge First Amendment Rights with respect to my comments about the media and propaganda.

The example I’m about to highlight is only that, an example…as such I do not have the time to link this to several sources; therefore, the only media site I will mention is the one that identified the problem I’m going to discuss.

I watched a major news organization representative talk about the value of investing in gold due to the failing economy and the devaluation of the dollar. This individual mentioned a specific company and invited viewers to use them as a good source to conduct business.

I thought that was not a bad idea and conducted some research on the business in question before contacting them for additional information. The more I dug around the more disappointed I became. There was no one in the business that could verify their bonafides. I did not think anything more about it until lo and behold, I saw an episode of MSNBC’s Countdown with a Mr. Keith Olbermann. During the broadcast he specifially mentioned the gold company the other media outlet had so lavishly praised. He went on to say that basically the company was a sham and to avoid them at all costs.

I was not upset; however, this among other things reinforced my belief that media outlets are engaging in activities that only serve to create chaos. I emailed the offending media outlet about their information and received no response, I also watched that particular broadcast for some time to see if they would offer an explanation or a retraction, they never did.

Now, one would have to assume that broadcasting directors as well as their talking heads know we are in dire straits. So any information (or as much as possible) should be wide ranging, based on arguable but truthful information and facts free from personal agendas. In my opinion this is not the case, so we must be on guard against those that would inflame our passions and lead us down the wrong road in an attempt to corral us into a state of mind that only creates more dissension…instead of knowledge and action.

That, in its most basic form is propaganda which must be identified, rooted out, and avoided at all costs.

P.S. My Latin is terrible but the internet makes everyone look like a genius. I believe the following quote is relevant to the times we live in but we can never allow its meaning and intent to rule our lives:

“Oderint Dum Metuant” which means “Let them hate, so long as they fear.”

  9. Administrator says:

Half the Country is in fear.

The country is divided roughly into factions that say the cause of the economic problem is too little supply and others who say there is too little demand. Adherents of “supply side economics” are wanting to give aid to manufacturing interests and incentives to factory owners so that they will make more stuff. Proponents of “demand side economics” say that there is too much supply and that the problem lies in the fact that consumers are losing or are in fear of losing their jobs and are therefore not buying enough stuff. Fact is that warehouses and car lots are full of goods that no one is buying, causing employers to lay off workers, causing even fewer people to afford to buy stuff. The supply-siders are wrong and their spokespeople, in their disagreement, are spreading rumors and fear, investors are panicking, and the market is falling. Hear what President Obama really said about the market:

WASHINGTON (AP) Obama: Stock ‘fits and starts’ are normal reaction— President Barack Obama is comparing the stock market to the daily tracking polls used during campaigns, saying that paying too close attention to Wall Street’s “fits and starts” could lead to bad long-term policy.

Obama spoke to reporters Tuesday after meeting in the Oval Office with visiting British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Obama said he is not measuring policies against “the day-to-day gyrations of the stock market,” but by whether lending is flowing more freely, businesses are investing and the unemployed are going back to work.

He did not say he does not care. Investors in the market should know they are gambling and stand a real chance of losing.

    Terry,
I hate to break the news to you but your a bubba. but also my brother and friend. with times what they are we dont have the luxury of division. “Divide Et Impera” ( Divide and Govern) julius caesar. Think about that statement. “They” dont want “us” to talk to one another. “They” want “us” to look at each other, instead of them. Too much “us” and “them”= division. help your neighbors, talk to them if they will listen.

1 John 4: 18-19 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. we love Him because He first loved us.

  11. RJPeeler says:

    Wow!

I received a lot of emails about a post script attached to a message I posted earlier. So, in the interests of open dialogue I will explain it. Some years ago while in the military this quote was used freely within a specific unit I was a member of: “Oderint Dum Metuant” which means “Let them hate, so long as they fear.”

The ulterior meaning for that statement, which was known by those working with me, was that as long as the bad guys were kept in a constant state of panic and disorder, it would be impossible for them to create a coherent strategy to assess your true capabilities.

So they may not like you or even hate you, but as long as they feared you because of your propaganda efforts…then you could adjudicate missions with impunity…and that’s called strategy.

My only intent by posting this was to draw a parallel between my earlier statements that the media uses this exact same strategy to draw attention away from problems that should be addressed but are not. It should also serve as a warning to those who do not understand that if you are so busy dealing with issues of no importance it’s hard to pay attention to what’s relevant.

  12. Ben Padstow says:

Interesting to see your use of the word ‘Gruntled’, since etymologically, Gruntled and Disgruntled both have the same meaning, which is ‘unhappy’.

I wonder if that was what you intended …

  13. RJ says:

    Mr. Padstow (Ben),

    Thank you for reading.
